Moon
Crocheted moon can be used as an element of baby mobile or simply as decor in a child’s room.
The crocheting time is about one hour.
Crochet Skill Level: Beginner.
The article presents a description for toys of two sizes — a small moon with a length of 7 centimeters and a large crescent with a size of 11 centimeters.
Tools and materials for crocheting the moon:
- 4-ply yarn (I used YarnArt Jeans (55% cotton + 45% acrylic), 174 yards (160m), 1.76 ounces (50 g)): amounts are approximate for small moon 5 g; for large moon 10-15 g).
- Polyester stuffing.
- Hook size 2 mm.
- Needle for sewing on details, scissors.
Abbreviations:
- sc — single crochet
- inc — increase, crochet 2 sc in one stitch
- dec — decrease, crochet 2 sc together
- ch — chain stitch
- slst — slip stitch
- (…)*n — repeat instruction in brackets n times
And you can also crochet a star according to a free pattern.
Description
The moon is crochet in back-and-forth-rows, so at the beginning of each row you need to make an ch and turn, unless otherwise indicated..
1: make 9 ch, begin from the second loop from the hook crochet: 8 sc = 8.
2: make 4 ch, turn, begin from the second loop from the hook crochet: 8 sc, dec, (do not crochet the last sc) = 9.
3: dec, 6 sc, inc = 9.
4: inc, 5 sc, dec, (do not crochet the last sc) = 8.
5: dec, 5 sc, inc = 8.
6: inc, 5 sc, dec = 8.
7: dec, 5 sc, inc = 8.
8-13: 8 sc (6 rows).
14: dec, 5 sc, inc = 8.
15: inc, 7 sc = 9.
16: dec, 6 sc, inc = 9
17: make 4 ch, turn, begin from the second loop from the hook crochet: 10 sc, dec = 11.
18: dec, 8 sc, inc = 11.
19: make 3 ch, turn, begin from the second loop from the hook crochet: 11 sc, dec = 12.
20: dec, 7 sc, dec = 9 (do not crochet the last sc).
21: skip 1 sc, slst, 4 sc, slst, do not crochet the last 2 sc.
Cut the yarn and fasten off.
Crochet the second piece in the same way as the first.
Assembling
Now you need to crochet the two pieces together with sc. I advise you to start assembling with the initial chain. In the vertex of the moon crochet 3 sc.
In the process of assembling, hide the ends of the yarn inside the moon. Stuff the toy as you crochet.
Make invisible fasten off and hide the ends of the yarn inside the moon.
You can crochet a larger moon (see the pattern below).

Since you included the stitch pattern, I was able to figure it out.
Row 5 is written backwards.
It should be dec, 5sc, inc
