GRINCH
I propose to crochet the Grinch toy and return the festive mood!
The size of the finished toy is about 24 centimeters (without hair).
Have a nice crocheting!
Materials and tools for crocheting:
- 4-ply yarn: green, red and white (for scarf and eye).
- Black thread for embroidery eye.
- Hook size 2 mm.
- Needle for sewing on details, scissors, thin needle for eyes embroidery.
- Polyester stuffing.
- Pink chalk, pastel or blush to tint cheeks (optional).
Abbreviations:
- MR — magic ring
- sc — single crochet
- slst — slip stitch
- inc — increase, crochet 2 sc in one stitch
- dec — invisible decrease, crochet 2 sc in front loops together
- ch — chain stitch
- (…)*n — repeat instruction in brackets n times
- R – row/round
DESCRIPTION OF CROCHET GRINCH TOYS:
Arms (make 2):
R1: 6 sc in MR = 6.
R2: 6 sc.
R3: (1 sc, inc)*3 = 9.
R4-12: 9 sc (9 rounds).
R13: fold the detail in half and crochet 4-5 sc through both sides.
Cut the thread, leaving a long tail for sewing.
LEGS (make 2):
R1: 6 sc in MR = 6.
R2-3: 6 sc (2 rounds).
R4: (1 sc, inc)*3 = 9.
R5: 9 sc.
R6: (2 sc, inc)*3 = 12 sc.
R7-8: 12 sc (2 rounds).
Crochet the heel:
R9: 7 sc.
R10-12: turn, 7 sc (2 rows).
R13 : turn, dec, 3 sc, dec = 5.
R14: turn, dec, 1 sc, dec = 3 sc.
R15: turn, dec, 1 sc = 2 sc.
R16: now we will crochet in a round. Make 6 sc to side of heel, 6 sc to front, 6 sc to other side of heel, 2 sc to back of heel = 20.
R17: 20 sc.
R18: dec, 14 sc, 2 dec= 17.
Stuff the legs.
R19: dec, 13 sc, dec = 15.
R20: dec, 9 sc, 2 dec= 12.
R21-33: 12 sc (13 rounds).
Cut the yarn.
BODY:
Join yarn to the middle of the inside of the leg.
R1: 12 sc on the first leg, make 6 ch, пjoin the chain to the second leg in the middle of the inside, 12 sc on the second leg, 6 sc in 6 ch = 36 (counting the loops on the back of the chain).
R2: (5 sc, inc)*6 = 42.
R3: (6 sc, inc)*6 = 48.
R4: 48 sc.
R5: (7 sc, inc)*6 = 54.
R6-10: 54 sc (5 rounds).
11: (7 sc, dec)*6 = 48.
12-14: 48 sc (3 rounds).
R15: (6 sc, dec)*6 = 42.
R16: 42 sc.
R17: (5 sc, dec)*6 = 36.
R18-21: 36 sc (4 rounds).
R22: (4 sc, dec)*6 = 30.
R23-26: 30 sc (4 rounds).
R27: (3 sc, dec)*6 = 24.
R28: 24 sc.
Sew on arms between 27 and 26 rounds, stuff the toy. Continue crocheting, we will crochet the head.
CROCHET GRINCH’S HEAD:
R29: (2 sc, dec)*6 = 18.
R30: 18 sc.
R31: (1 sc, dec)*6 = 12.
R32: 12 sc.
R33: (1 sc, inc)*6 = 18.
R34: 18 inc = 36.
R35-36: 36 sc (2 rounds).
R37: (5 sc, inc)*6 = 42.
R38: 42 sc.
R39: (5 sc, dec)*6 = 36.
R40: 36 sc.
R41: (4 sc, dec)*6 = 30.
R42: 30 sc.
R43: (3 sc, dec)*6 = 24.
R44: (4 sc, dec)*4 = 20.
R45-47: 20 sc (3 rounds).
R48: (8 sc, dec)*2 = 18.
R49: (1 sc, dec)*6 = 12.
R50: 6 dec = 6.
Cut the thread, leaving a long tail. Tighten the loops: in order to do this insert the needle into the front of the loop, and then, when through all loops the thread will be skipped, tighten the loops.
Hide yarn tail inside the body.
Eyes:
R1: Make 4 ch, 3 slst, into the last ch make 3 slst, 2 slst (opposite side) , into the first ch make 2 slst.
R2: 4 slst (see diagram).
Embroider the pupil with black thread.
Sew on eyes, embroider eyebrows, mouth and nose with black thread. Stitch from nose to mouth with green thread.
Hairstyle: insert a hook into the top of the head, pick up the yarn and pull out the loop, cut the yarn and pull the two ends of the yarn through the loop. Repeat 3 times, you should get 6 hairs, trim the hair.
SCARF:
On the knitting needles, dial 7 loops, knit until you need to length, alternating colors every 4 rows. I have a scarf about 30 cm.
